Reporting to the Director of the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Director of the Business Innovation Group (BIG), the Administrative Outreach Specialist manages outreach efforts for the center. Continued employment is subject to the availability of grant funds.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
  • Design and create presentations and marketing material that are visually appealing
  • Market programs and services to potential and current clientele, stakeholders, referral sources and potential program attendees via traditional and digital marketing means. Act as a liaison to local and regional stakeholders and referral sources. Outreach duties include presentations, public addresses, and serving on small business committees
  • Take the lead planning BIG-sponsored events and workshops, for example, BIG Café
  • Assist SBDC Business Consultants with research as needed
  • Actively participate in the execution and development of strategies for sponsorship of programs and other assets
  • Assist SBDC Area Director with internal paperwork related to grant and budget
  • Perform support duties required for the operation of the office using standard SBDC equipment and software in the preparation of: correspondence, presentation materials, purchase and check requests, invoices, supply orders, and promotional materials, including brochures, flyers, newsletters, e-mails to promote CE classes and other programs
  • Compile performance data and other information for completion of required reports
  • Support organizational improvement efforts through active involvement on internal committees, special projects, and various assessments
  • Assist with development and strategic planning when appropriate and necessary
  • Serve as first point of contact for various constituencies
  • Manage all social media accounts for the SBDC and BIG
  • Manage the website for the Business Innovation Group
  • Direct clients to appropriate sources of business information and assistance
  • Assist with development and delivery of business training programs that are responsive to the needs of the business community served
  • Performs administrative responsibilities for the SBDC as assigned, including routing messages and scheduling consulting appointments for staff
  • Event support including coordination, setup, and marketing
  • Plan and implement public relations campaigns and strategies; this includes writing and editing press releases, leaflets, brochures, and newsletters

 

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree

 

Required Experience  

  • Two or more years of related work experience

 

Preferred Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing or related field
